If you are totally new to WOW.

My advice is this:

Roll a Hunter. Why? Because it allows you to level easier, and survive easier. then when you are at level 70, you become a farmer for your next toon.

Professions: Skinning and leatherworking. OMG these are a gold mine and so easy to level.

  • Read the manual. Get an understanding of why people have bright yellow exclamation points over their heads and how to maneuver. Utilize the town guards for directions.

Read the quest texts before asking questions.

Try out every class, at least to lvl 10, which doesn't take very long. Find out which class's mechanics you feel most comfortable with and don't be afraid to switch back and forth a little.

Finally, don't be afraid to explore - I had opened up quite a bit of my map when I first started playing. Yes, there are quests designed to get you to leave each territory and explore new places, but why wait?
